The Deal with Pumpkin Spice

So I like Pumpkins Spice Lattes like any other regular basic bitch.

They're delicious.  They're warm.  They are only available once a year and for that reason alone, they taste more delicious than all the other year-round flavoured lattes.

I was thinking to myself the other day...

I don’t really want to surround myself in Pumpkin Spice syrup all the time.

I’m not up for bathing in it until every pore on my body is literally dripping with the Fall flavour.  But I feel like this is what the commercial gift and seasonal industry is trying to do to me!

What exactly is Pumpkin Spice anyways?

As far as I'm concerned, a real pumpkin smells quite awful - and definitely not spicy! I feel like the world is on a bit of a Pumpkin Spice craze and I missed something.

Perhaps I sound a bit cynical, but I honestly don't get all the hype.

Traditions

When the holiday season arrives, it always brings with it, a sense of tradition.

And while I don’t know that I’ll ever be painting my nails with a Pumpkin Spice polish or light a Pumpkin Spice candle or taking a Pumpkin Spice bath, I will always enjoy my annual trip to the local pumpkin patch.

We’ve been relishing in this tradition for six years now, and it never gets old. These pumpkins understand me as I understand them. They're just a good ole' pumpkin.

Happy Halloween!
